Siemens SX1 is a candy bar styled tri-band cameraphone, and the detail that immediately strikes you is that the keypad number keys are arranged in 2 lines down the left and right sides of the phone's body. This mobile phone is packed with a variety of useful features for personal as well as business use, and they include Bluetooth wireless technology, MMS multimedia messaging, FM stereo radio, MP3 player, digital sound recorder, speakerphone for hands-free conversations, voice control, support for Java and Symbian software platforms, GPRS and WAP enabled, and a full e-mail client service.
The colour display on the Siemens SX1 is a large TFT type of LCD screen, with a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels, and it can reproduce up to 65,536 different colours. This display can be used for menu selection, game playing, and also gives a good presentation for any photos and video clips that you capture.

The integrated camera is of VGA quality, and it can be used to take either still photos or video. The Siemens SX1's MMS capability lets you send and receive multimedia messages containing video clips, still images and sound effects, in addition to a text message. With its built-in video player, camcorder, and the chance to view live-streamed video, this phone offers many opportunities to see what is happening elsewhere, or to capture some unique event to show to your friends. The phone's support for RealOne Player is another useful feature, which makes it compatible with other audio and video files used on computer equipment.
The Siemens SX1 already has about 4 MB of internal memory onboard, but the addition of a MultiMediaCard slot vastly expands the available memory capability of this phone. On the MMC memory card it is possible to store a wide range of files such as pictures, sounds, messages and all types of applications.
For those who enjoy music on the move, then the Siemens SX1 can provide you with all the MP3 music tracks you need, and these can be stored on the MMC card. Alternatively, this phone's users have the option to listen to the integrated FM stereo radio, which offers the usual choice of regular music and speech broadcast stations. The plug-in stereo headset and its cable act as an aerial whilst listening to the radio.
The Siemens SX1 is Java enabled, and it also supports the Symbian OS Series 60 platform. With this phone you can therefore run compatible Java games and applications, and you have the opportunity to download more games and applications that you need them later. Three games come embedded in the phone. Downloading more wallpapers, graphics and polyphonic ringtones is also possible, for those who wish to add some personal touches to the phone and customise its sound and appearance.
With its GPRS and WAP technology the SX1 is capable of fast and easy access to the mobile Internet, and the wide range of services and information now on offer there. A 5-way joystick makes navigation of the WAP pages both quicker and simpler. Also, with its e-mail client, you have the ability to use the standard e-mail services via the universal POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP protocols.
When you need to synchronise your diary and contact details with a PC, you can do this wirelessly with the Bluetooth or infrared interface, or you have the other option of using a local cable connection and a USB connector. Microsoft Outlook is supported, or you are even able to synchronise data remotely via SyncML.
